Tuesday Moderate Ride – December 13th – 9:00 AM – Panera
Tomorrow’s weather is marginal at best. The temperature is expected to be cool, but in an acceptable range – around 36 degrees when we start and climbing to 40 degrees about the time we finish. The chance of precipitation is low – around 10%. The wind should be from the ESE at 15 to 25 mph, with higher gusts possible. It is those higher gusts that concern me. I once rode when the wind was gusting to 40 or 50 mph. It is an experience I have no desire to repeat. Nonetheless I’m either feeling lucky or just desperate to get in a few more miles before the weather becomes truly foul. I am planning a ride to Eggspresso in Bannockburn on Tuesday.
My planned route will be up Sheridan Road to Fort Sheridan, then west on Old Elm to Ridge, south along Ridge and then west beside Half Day Road to Eggspresso. Following lunch we will return to Wilmette by way of Ridge and the Skokie Lagoons. I may, however, shorten or alter the route if weather conditions make that advisable. My pace will be a moderate 13 to 15 mph. I’m guessing that our total distance will be around 35 or 40 miles.
