Tuesday Moderate Ride – April 16th – 9:00 AM – Panera
This week we are scheduled to take a slightly circuitous route through two wooded subdivisions in Riverwoods and a few other less wooded subdivisions on the outward bound and return trip, with lunch at Greek Feast. Here is a link to the route I will be using: RiverwoodsGrkFeast · Ride with GPS. We will modify the route slightly to work around the closed Tower Road bridge over the Edens Expressway. Rather than turning on Tower we will continue north on Forestway to Dundee, slip in the back entrance to the Botanic Garden and ride through to Lake Cook Road. Then it’s west to the Skokie Valley Bike Path. We will rejoin the posted route just north of Clavey Road.
Our total distance will be about 40 miles. I will ride at a moderate (13 – 15 mph) pace. With enough interest there will be a second slightly faster group led by Will.
The weather forecast for Tuesday is grim – Steady rain in the morning with showers continuing in the afternoon. The high temperature is predicted to be 63 degrees. Winds out of the ESE at 15 to 25 mph, with higher gusts possible. The chance of rain is 60%, which I guess is an improvement over the 80% in the forecast this morning. I will not ride if the weather conditions are even remotely like this, but, as is my wont, I will wait until Tuesday morning to make the final call. Weather forecast have been known to change. I will post a go or no go notice to the listserv on Tuesday morning around 7:30.
