Tuesday Moderate Ride – September 26th – 9:00 AM – Panera
Last week was the first time since the beginning of May that the Tuesday Moderate Ride was canceled because of the weather. I did get people wet on a few occasions, so perhaps a few more cancelations would have been in order. Now it looks likely that tomorrow’s ride will also be a cancelation. The weather forecast suggests that rain will begin around 3 AM on Tuesday and continue until 5 PM on Wednesday. I would feel awful, however, if I were to cancel the ride in advance and wake up to a bright and sunny day on Tuesday. Stranger things have happened. I will wait until Tuesday morning to make a decision. I will try to post a “go” or “no go” message before 7:30 AM.
In the unlikely event that we are able to ride, I’m planning a ride to Lambs Farm using a more conventional route than the one we used earlier this year. Here is a link to the route I would use: LbrtyvlLambsFarm2 - A bike ride in Wilmette, IL (ridewithgps.com). The total distance is around 46 miles. I would ride at a moderate (13 – 15 mph) pace. With enough interest and a willing leader, we might have a slightly faster group. If it seems appropriate, I might substitute a shorter route if that will permit a safe and dry ride tomorrow.
So, make whatever appeals to the weather gods and demons that seem appropriate and stay tuned.
