It appears The Cook County Forest Preserve will be closing a short section of the North Branch Trail starting at the end of July and lasting about two months. Specially the bridge over the Skokie Lagoons on the south side of Dundee Road will be closed for repair. To reach the Botanic Garden going north you will want to take the east side of the trail loop between Tower Rd and Dundee Rd, not the west side. You can still access the south entrance to the Botanic from Dundee Rd.
- ALERT 07/29/2024 - 09/20/2024: The North Branch Trail Black Paved Loop will be closed at the Dundee Road bridge over the Skokie Lagoons to allow for bridge improvements. All other portions of the trail will remain open during construction. Trail users may continue using the trail up to the Dundee Road bridge. North Branch Trail System - Black Paved Loop near Tower Road Boat Launch, Tower Road, Forest Way Grove, and Chicago Botanic Garden.
