Moving into a new season
Scott Schaedel

Now that another NSC is on the books and the weather promises to turn cooler, several EBC friends are starting to talk about winter rides and activities like cross-country skiing. Did you know that several of our members have joined Northwest Nordic Ski Club, one of only two Chicago-area clubs dedicated to ski touring, racing, and generally celebrating winter in the outdoors. Here is what we offer:

  • An extensive schedule of weekly local day ski trips and hikes, dinner meetings, and social events in the North and Northwest suburbs. We are one of the most active ski clubs of any kind in the area.
  • Planned trips to leading ski touring destinations with machine-groomed trails and snowshoeing in northern Wisconsin, and Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Every other year we travel to national venues such as Colorado, Royal Gorge (CA), Sun Valley (UT), and Canada's Algoma Highlands. Some members participate in races like the American Birkebeiner.
  • The opportunity to experience the sport and to learn basic techniques. (In fact, most of our members are beginners in the sport.)

Our annual Pot Luck dinner is happening soon in Winnetka, so consider joining now at the first-year rate of only $10. For more info, see the attached brochure or visit www.nwnordicskiclub.com
