Tuesday Moderate Ride – October 1st – 9:00 AM – Panera
For the third time this season I am planning to ride to Joanie’s Pizzeria of Long Grove -- Joanie's Pizzeria of Long Grove – Food & Friends (joaniespizzerialonggrove.com). The first time I opted for a shorter ride because of the heat. The second time I canceled because of the rain. This week’s forecast is more promising: Sunshine with some cloudy intervals. A high temperature of 71 degrees, with winds from the NNW at 10 to 20 mph. I suspect that a long-term forecast four days in advance of the ride is more or less an educated guess, but let’s cross our fingers and hope that the third time is a charm.
Here is a link to the route that I will use: Long Grove 2019 · Ride with GPS. Our total distance will be around 47 miles. I will ride at a moderate (13 – 15 mph) pace. With enough interest there will be a second group led by Will riding at a slightly faster pace.
Please note that Joanie’s is a sit-down, order at the table restaurant that opens at 11:30 AM. If you are in a hurry this might not be the ride for you.
If the weather should be substantially different from the forecast making it prudent to cancel the ride, I will post a notice to the listserv by 7:30 AM on the morning of the ride.
