After 39 years, North Shore Century ride is moving...
Author Last Post
Sandra,

I think starting a few rides at Gillson is an excellent idea, to increase visibility and familiarity.

Doug Hoffman

Very surprised to hear about these unexpected changes. Maybe we should consider using Gillson Park as a starting point for some of our rides to start building more invisibility in the
Wilmette community.

Attached as a pdf file is the June 2024 EBC newsletter, which at pp 7-8 contains a report on the funds given away from the 2023 North Shore Century - a total of $50,000. Each spring, the club endeavors to donate about 80% of the net proceeds from the previous year’s event. In doing so, the Board acts on recommendations from the club’s Donations & Grants Committee. Beginning in 2025, the Committee will be chaired by Alvin Spector.

The article did not mention that we give much of the proceeds away. I commented to that effect at the end, but I didn’t have a clue as to the percentage of net we grant to not-for-profits. I saw something about 80% of net — but is that net or gross?

Does anyone know how much we gave away last go around? And who were a few of the recipients? I feel a lot of members are as much in the dark about this as I am.
