How do we grow new bicyclists?

Where do new riders come from?

Every bike club struggles with this question, as do those among us who advocate for more & better cycling. Please take a look at the photo above: it's an invitation to elementary-age children to take the "Bike Bus" to school.
I don't know who came up with this name, but kudos to Marco Speeks for leading a drive with Detroit Public Schools to get children active riding their bikes to and from school!
Marco wears many hats- he's the founder of Major Taylor Michigan, a Cycling Advocacy group in Detroit. He's on the board of directors of the League of Michigan Bicyclists, one of our partner organizations, and Marco is also a Tour Leader for Bike Tour Vacations.
This advocacy in supporting and fostering safe ways to learn to ride is a great thing for the future of cycling. If you know of someone doing their part to make cycling better/safer/bigger where you live, please reply back with some information. We'd love to share it in a future email blast.
