This week's Weds Moderate Ride: A Glenview Architecture Sampler
From farm houses to speakeasies to solar houses … join us for a ride past Glenview’s varied architecture. We will see:
- A house that claims to be “America’s original solar home”
- The site of a former CCC camp that housed 2,000 workers
- Two former Prohibition-era speakeasies
- … and other sights in Glenview’s surprising mix of architecture and history
Joanne Davis and Bruce Miller will be co-leading this moderate pace 18-mile loop on Wednesday, June 18, departing from Chandler-Newberger in Evanston at 8:30am. We will enjoy an outdoor lunch at Hackney’s on Harms, one of the former speakeasies. For logistics and safety, the ride will be limited to 12 riders.
