Saturday Middlefork Savanna Ride – July 12th – 9:00 AM – Panera – LET’S RIDE
Most, but not all, of the weather apps that I regularly consult suggest that today would be a grand day for a bike ride, so I will be at Panera this morning to lead a ride to the Middlefork Savanna. In the last 48 hours 1.56 inches of rain have fallen on the Middlefork Savanna, with the rain ending only 4 hours ago as I write. That is less rain than has fallen here in Evanston, but probably sufficient to render the limestone paths in the preserve a tad sloppy. Consequently, I will be calling an audible this morning concerning our route. We will stick to paved surfaces today and ride to the North Grove rather than riding through the preserve. This is admittedly a less interesting route, but probably better than dealing with splatter and mud.
