Hey all,
I'm thinking of some caveats:
I request that any such system allow riders to join the ride after the start, "down the road". Many times I myself have done just that, and then signed the paper sheet while we eat. It also happens that a latecomer joins the ride just after the ride starts rolling, too late to sign in.
Also, if we require riders to sign in remotely before we appear to join a ride, we will likely get some people signed in who end up not actually showing up to ride at all.
BTW, it's only in the past year that I myself figured out how to use QR codes on my iPhone 8. (I, 73 years old, used to be a computer programmer and then an Excel "whiz".) Do we still have any EBC riders who are even more behind than I am? I can remember a former EBC member and ride leader, now in their 80s, who never learned to use a computer or cell phone; their cue sheets were scribbled in pencil.

This could be an option to consider instead of using paper sign in sheets for our rides:
All rides could use the QR code sign-in process (no paper sheets).
All you need to do:
Scan the QR code at the start of each ride
Complete the short sign-in form
Everyone needs to sign in PRIOR to the start of the ride
Each rider should sign in individually, including guests.
The Arlington Heights Bike Club just started to use it this year.
It was very easy to use and allows groups to assemble faster to start the rides.
