Tuesday Moderate Ride – May 12th – 9:00 AM – Panera

This Tuesday is an open day on the schedule; there is no pre-established route or destination. A shorter ride would better suit my schedule, and I just happen to have a route to a favorite Tuesday lunch destination. Here, from my own library, is a link to the route to Max’s Deli in Highland Park: Short loop to Max's Deli · Ride with GPS. Our total distance will be around 32 miles, with two thirds of that distance before lunch. I’ll ride at a moderate (13 to 15 mph) pace. With enough interest there can be a second slightly faster group.

For novice Max visitors, the menu can be a bit overwhelming. If you’d like to give it a little pre-study, it can be found at: Breakfast - Maxs-Deli. (In spite of what the link says, this will give you the entire menu.) I am particularly fond of the smoked fish platters and the omelets.

Tuesday’s weather forecast is a bit iffy. It’ll be cloudy with a temperature range of 53 to 68 degrees during our ride time. Winds will be from the SSW at 15 to 25 mph. There is a slight chance of a stray shower or thunderstorm. At the moment the hourly forecast is showing a 35% chance of rain at noon, which means there is a 65% chance it won’t rain. I’ll monitor the weather closely, and if it seems prudent to cancel the ride, I will post an announcement to the listserv before 7:30 AM on the morning of the ride.

I guess this is a double oops! Earlier this week Len posted a ride to Once Upon a Bagel for Monday, only to learn they are closed on Monday. (I didn’t know that either). He then changed the posting to Max’s Deli. Then I posted my Tuesday ride for Max’s Deli, and while scanning back over the ride postings, realized that we now had a Monday and Tuesday ride to Max’s Deli. That seems a bit excessive. So, I am changing my ride to Once Upon a Bagel.

I’m going to use a route something like my Foley Pond route without going to the pond. After lunch we’ll just head for home down Green Bay Road. Here is a link to the Foley Pond route: HP-Foley Pond · Ride with GPS. I’m guessing we’ll be a tad under 30 miles all together.

Rest assured, we will visit Max’s Deli and Foley Pond on other rides.
