Attention please: The casual ride this Thursday 5/21 will REMOTE START at the ROBERT CROWN COMMUNITY CENTER, 1801 Main St in Evanston.

Meet at 9AM, pace casual (10-12mph), we’ll visit three houses designed by visionary architect Bruce Goff on the ride, two in Park Ridge, one in Edison Park, and have brunch at Elia Cafe before returning to Evanston. https://elia-cafe.com/

For a summary of Bruce Goff’s fascinating career and the buildings he designed (built or unbuilt) from 1917 to his death, click this link https://www.usmodernist.org/goff.htm

For an in-depth look at two of his landmark houses in Chicago, one of which we’ll visit on this ride, the Charles Turzak house in Edison Park, read this document https://www.chicago.gov/content/dam/city/depts/zlup/Historic_Preservation/Publications/Charles_Turzak_and_Myron_Bachman%20Houses.pdf

And here’s the Suntimes article that inspired me to put this ride together https://chicago.suntimes.com/architecture-design/2026/01/08/bruce-goff-architect-homes-chicago-art-institute

Of course, no reading is required for your participation on the ride. This is the official season-opener for EBC casual rides, the grass is green, our route is mostly serene and beautiful, food is good at Elia Cafe, the weather promises to be pleasantly cool, so come out and have a casual good time!!
