Dear Club Members -
The purpose of this communication is to inform you about a test beginning on Monday, July 27 to experiment with electronic ride sign-up rather than paper on select rides. If you ride with one of the six (6) test ride leaders mentioned below, please read this
note carefully.
Test Protocol
Six rider leaders (listed below) representing all the pace groups graciously agreed to use the electronic sign-up system beginning
starting July 27. The test period will be six (6) weeks. If you go on rides led by the following six leaders, you (as a rider) are asked to participate in the test.
The ride leaders and paces are as follows.
Rudy Kubica - Very Fast +
Tom Witt - Fast +
Barbara Niehus - Fast
Peter Glaser - Moderate
Marty Horn - Casual
Melissa Gattuso - F+ Show ’n Go
Step #1 - Set up and save your profile
Screen #1 will pop up with the ride schedule for that date. Click on the gear icon in the top right corner which will take you to screen #2 to set up your profile (name, phone, member #) and save it. Now you are ready to sign up for any ride on the calendar.

Step # 2 - Sign up for a specific ride & complete the waiver
As the ride leaders do now, a couple of days before a scheduled ride, you will receive an email from the leader announcing the ride, distance, start time, start location
plus included in that email will be a link for electronic sign-in for that ride.
Follow that link, hit the “Sign Up” button. As the screen below demonstrates, you will see your name and phone number (both are required fields) from your profile and a box for your signature for the waiver. Sign, save and now you are registered. It’s
that simple.
-
iPhone: Open
Safari, go to the website, tap the
Share button (a square with an upward arrow), and select
Add to Home Screen.
-
Android: Open
Chrome, go to the website, tap the
three-dot menu in the top-right corner, and select
Add to Home screen.
If you prefer to not use or ride with your phone, you can sign up on your computer, again by following the link and instruction above. The screens look very similar.
Background
The EBC Board has been seeking ways to simplify and modernize Club operations. We discovered that several clubs both locally and beyond have transitioned from traditional paper sign-in sheets
to electronic sign-in via a phone app or computer. Intrigued by this possibility, we reached out to Club member Jay Twery who helped to build our TeamUp program that houses the Club’s ride schedule. Jay generously donated his time and brainpower to create
the electronic process described above.
Desired Benefits
The new sign-up procedure has many benefits. The #1 goal is to make the work of the ride leaders easier, simpler, faster. Some specific examples are as follows.
-
No printing and carrying paper sign-in & pen
-
No manual entry of riders into the miles data base post ride
-
No scanning the ride sheet to Stuart Swibel post ride
- Having preliminary count of riders before ride
Change takes time and sometimes a little patience. The ride leaders participating have been trained on the new sign-up process. If you get stuck during this test period, just ask your leader the morning
of your ride.
Thank you for participating and your willingness to try something new. We want to hear about your experience. Please feel free to share feedback with me, Jay, or the ride leaders throughout the process. Depending on our collective experience, we may send
out a short survey at the end of the test period to asses key learnings, possible changes, adjustments and the communication process.
As a reminder, the test begins on July 27.
Much appreciated, Margaret
