Tuesday Moderate Ride – October 20th – 9:00 AM – Panera

This week we are scheduled to ride to the Ryerson Estate in Riverwoods ostensibly to look for fall color. Fall colors have been muted so far this year, and a great many “experts” are predicting a poor fall color season. Furthermore, a few years back Will pointed out that we usually saw the best fall color when we were riding on Sheridan Road relatively close to home. On several occasions I have gone tramping through the woods at Ryerson only to realize that the best color that year was to the south across the parking lot. All of which is to say that the fall color is an excuse. We’ll ride up to the Brushwood Center, look across the parking lot, maybe visit the historic house briefly, and then get onto the main event – lunch at Greek Feast.

Here is a link to a route pretty similar to what we will ride: RyersonWoods-22 · Ride with GPS. Unless I hear otherwise from a reliable source, I am going to assume that construction is continuing on Skokie Valley Road. I will use the same workaround that I used last week – staying on Forest Way Drive/Hohlfelder Road to Westly Road, east to Green Bay Road, and then north to Clavey Road where we will scoot over to the Skokie Valley Bike Trail. I have not made an adjustment to the published route.

I am now a participant in the testing of the online sign-up system: here is the link to sign-up for this week’s ride: Sign Up

The forecast for Tuesday is promising: some clouds early then sunny skies with a high temperature of 65 degrees and winds from the east at 5 to 10 mph.
