I agree with Steve, why are the motorcycles and cars so often, so close? Remember maybe two years ago in the Tour de France when a car knocked over two racers, one into a barbed wire fence?

Hi Mike,

I could add volumes to what you just said about our responsibilities as cyclists but also what are the responsibilities of the people on the motorbikes? I watched the video about a half dozen times. Why were the motorbikes so close to cyclists in the first place?

Even a world champion like Julian Alaphilippe can have attention lapses. Today, third in a breakaway group of 3, he didn't notice one of the motorbikes. clipped it with his elbow, and suffered a bad fall, with two fractures in his hand.

Yes, the ride leader and the sweep have specific responsibilities, but in the end we are each responsible for our own safety.
